After completely taking over the world of cinema, Marvel has moved yet sites over to the television industry. Marvel released multiple series, one after another, Loki, WandaVision, and What If are just a few to name. But it seems like Marvel has no plan to stop because their latest trailer of Moon Knight features a side of Marvel that we have never seen before.
Moon Knight is an upcoming new Marvel series that is based on a Marvel Comics character, produced by Jeremy Slater for streaming platform Disney+. Moon Knight is going to be another edition to Marvel's ever-growing collection of entertainment media. Unsurprisingly, it is also yet another reason for you to subscribe to Disney+. Fans of Marvel from across the world will be disappointed, though, because Disney+ is yet to roll out their services to the entire globe. There is no need to worry though, because even if you live outside of the supported countries, we have something to show you at the end of this article that may help you circumvent these limitations.
Marc Spector, a former Soldier and CIA agent had become a mercenary despite his confused beliefs about brutality and morality. Spector was shocked when his colleague Raoul Bushman brutally killed an archaeologist, Dr. Alraune.
While Specter tried to protect the archaeologist’s daughter, Bushman gravely wounded him in the process. Roaming around injured in the Egyptian desert, Spector sits down near a shrine where he passes away yet wakes up again. The shrine belonged to an Egyptian moon deity who wishes for Specter to become the Moon’s Knight to defend and rescue the defenseless.
When Spector returns to the United States, he invests his mercenary earnings in becoming the vigilante superhero "Moon Knight." He primarily utilizes three additional identities to obtain information from various social circles, in addition to his costumed alter ego: wealthy industrialist Steven Grant, taxi driver Jake Lockley, and Mr. Knight.
The structure of Moon Knight’s brain was not the same after resurrection. Ever since Khonshu brought Moon Knight back to life, there was a connection between his brain and Khonshu. Essentially rebuilding his brain as a weapon of Khonshu. His powers are:
Due to his brain’s connection with a god, Moon Knight has knowledge and insight of wildly different skill sets. While someone else may take years or even decades to learn all of these things, Moon Knight simply knows all of this due to his connection with Khonshu.
Expert pilot, detective, interrogational, sharpshooter, mastery of weapons, expert martial artist, he can speak multiple languages, he has incredible pain resistance as well as telepathic Resistance. Moon Knight might just be the most skilled superhero Marvel has ever created.
Every hero, no matter how powerful they are, have a weakness. Marc’s weakness is mental illness. Also, he suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. He developed different personalities throughout his life which is a consequence of becoming Khonsu’s follower. Spector goes through these details in his head, assigning personalities to them to make sense of them. In short, Khonshu has "colonized" Marc's mind, and the several personalities Marc exhibits are a mechanism for him to deal with the trauma.
In comics, Moon Knight in his mind thought he was fighting alongside Spider-Man and Wolverine but in reality, he was fighting alone, and he just took their personalities instead.
Moon Knight does use weapons to beat his enemies, he may have superhuman strength but still, he needs his weapons because his powers rely on the moon. In comics we have many weapons that he uses but, we are not sure what will he use in live action so we will discuss all the weapons he uses.
These are throwing blades that the moon knight frequently uses. He keeps them in his belt. These let the moon died, attack enemies from afar.
The Moon Knight uses this tool as a simple stick, nun chucks, and grapple projectile all at the same time. It acts as a blunt weapon and the Moon Knight can throw it if needed. He also uses it to entangle weapons or legs of enemies or to stop them from running, or to increase the club's arc of movement and therefore its force, it divides into two short sticks connected by a chain.
In the midst of an impending crisis, this gold Egyptian sign lights up. Moon Knight uses it as a throwing weapon or a hand-held weapon, just like the truncheon. It does weigh 5kg so despite its small size, it packs a punch.
Moon Knight also has high-grade equipment since one of his alter ego is a billionaire. So just like DC’s Batman, Marvel’s Moon Knight can afford all this stuff without any problem. He has three main pieces of equipment which are especially important for him in all of his missions.
Spector is unable to fly, although he can use his cloak to slow his fall from tremendous heights. He can control his descent to a degree. There is no armor on the cloak because it needs to be flexible.
Moon Knight’s original suit was of Kevlar but after some time he made another suit out of adamantium, Frenchi also installed dart shooters to the gauntlets.
The Moon Knight owns a helicopter shaped like a moon. He also uses the Avengers Quinjet. In live action it is possible we see him using Quinjet because it already exists, but we have no idea if Moon Knight will be an Avenger or not. While it is possible that he joins the team later on, we should not get our hopes up this early.
Moon Knight, a six-episode series starring Oscar Isaac and focusing on one of Marvel's most eccentric characters, is garnering a lot of hype ahead of its March premiere. It will premiere on Disney+ because it is a Marvel series. Ethan Hawke will play a villain modeled on cult leader David Koresh, according to reports. Because his character suffers from an identity issue, Oscar Isaac will appear in four separate roles in this series.
Moon Knight is a narrative about identity. Moon Knight might as well be Marvel’s Batman because the two characters follow a similar pattern, while one wears black, the other wears white. Moon Knight also has a multi billionaire persona that can afford all the expensive weaponry, armors, and anything else that might be necessary for the Moon knight to function. Does that sound similar to Batman? That is because it is.
